The Emergency Medicine Department provides 24-hr emergency care services for the community in support of the healthcare mission of Alexandra Hospital and the Ministry of Health

The department provides 24/7 standard emergency care to the following:

- Walk-in cases (self referred)
- Referrals from public sector healthcare providers
- Referrals from private sector healthcare providers
- Cases brought in by the pre-hospital / ambulance service (SCDF or private)
- Referrals from non-healthcare organizations for emergency medical assessment for clinical, administrative and medico-legal purposes
