Age-related Macular Degeneration Awareness Week

Don't Lose Sight of Age-related Macular Degeneration

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a severe ocular disease characterised by progressive degeneration of the macula, the most sensitive central back portion of the retina. AMD is the most common cause of blindness among people aged 60 years and older in developed countries.

 

In response to the emerging challenge of AMD in Singapore, the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences in Alexandra Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre and their many partners will be organising the AMD Awareness Week from 20 to 26 September this year.
